Screens come out first and get cleaned separately. Frames and sills are wiped down to clear dust, spider webs, and the grit that collects in the corners, then the glass gets washed with a squeegee technique that pulls water off in clean lines instead of letting it air dry into spots. Interior sills and frames get the same attention so there is no leftover haze once the sun hits the glass.
Hard water is the thing that trips up a lot of window jobs in this region, since the mineral content in local water can leave spotting if the glass is left to air dry instead of squeegeed and dried properly. Skipping the frames and sills is the other common shortcut, and it shows up fast, since dirty sills stain window screens and streak the glass again within a few weeks.
How it runs
- Remove screens Screens are taken out and cleaned separately from the glass and frame.
- Clean frames and sills Dust, webs, and grit are cleared from the frame, track, and sill before the glass is touched.
- Wash the glass Glass is washed and squeegeed clean on both interior and exterior sides.
- Dry and detail edges Edges and corners are wiped by hand to catch water lines the squeegee leaves behind.
- Reinstall screens Cleaned screens go back in once the window itself is finished.
